Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/2 pound of sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (6 oz each) of tomato paste
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 16 ounces of ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 pound of mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 3/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese



  • Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).see more


    In a large pot, cook the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent.



  • Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons of parsley. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cover and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  • While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and rinse with cold water.



  • In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, 2 tablespoons of parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

  • To assemble the lasagna, spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  • Arrange a single layer of lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture on top of the noodles, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese slices. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.see more





  • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the lasagna is bubbly.
