Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons of parsley. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cover and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and rinse with cold water.
In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, 2 tablespoons of parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
To assemble the lasagna, spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Arrange a single layer of lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture on top of the noodles, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese slices. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.see more
